The workshop will bring together SCD and ontology experts from around the globe with the aim of facilitating collaborative retrospective and prospective studies using the SCDO.
The main objectives of the workshop are to:
a) Recruit a cohort of SickleInAfrica Fellows
b) Improve study design, data analyses and scientific writing skills of SickleInAfrica Fellows.
c) Establish research networks which will focus on multi-site retrospective research, pilot cohort/clinical trials and other research studies which make use of the SCDO
d) Increase SPAN membership - workshop participants will be encouraged to join SPAN
Prerequisites include:
Willingness to pool SCD data for multi-site retrospective research
Have a Big Data Analytics Fellow from your group willing to be part of this initiative (preferably pre-PhD) - optional
Willingness to collaborate in a multi-site prospective research study.
Identify a funding call you are willing to apply for as part of a collaborative network for a prospective research study
