Webinar: Deadly epidemics 'brewed in an African pot': from genomic science to saving lives
The African meningitis belt is a ‘hot spot’ of frequent bacterial meningitis epidemics causing mortalities and creating havoc in the country’s health system. Martin will discuss how he uses a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary approach from basic science (microbiology, molecular biology, genomics, bioinformatics and vaccinology) to public engagement to tackle bacterial meningitis epidemics in close partnership with global and regional bodies, including World Health Organization (WHO), Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), Ministry of Health, Universities, Institute of Pasteur and the West African Health Organization (WAHO).
