Request for Information (RFI): National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) Strategic Vision Refresh

The NHLBI has released a request for information (RFI) to invite input from constituents — both individuals and organizations — as it refreshes its Strategic Vision.
The RFI asks for perspectives on the current relevance of NHLBI’s strategic objectives and whether additional Compelling Questions and Critical Challenges might drive important scientific and health advances.
We want to ensure your awareness of the focus areas of the NHLBI’s Strategic Vision refresh, and we welcome your input by December 15.
NHLBI Strategic Vision Refresh Focus Areas
NHLBI is seeking input on novel research needs and approaches that have surfaced as priorities over the past 5 years. The six focus areas include:
• Harnessing data science and new technologies to drive scientific discovery and precision health;
• Using novel approaches for addressing health disparities and tackling their biological underpinnings for heart, lung, blood diseases and sleep disorders;
• Furthering the science on the importance of lifestyle behaviors;
• Leveraging the power of community and patient engagement;
• Supporting women’s health through the lifespan; and
• Addressing and reducing the impact of “place”(geography, climate, rural/urban, neighborhood) on heart, lung, blood, and sleep health.
